THIS week saw a record number of Swansea Aquatics swimmers qualify for the British Summer Championships which are being held in the Ponge Forge pool in Sheffield along with the open water events in the Rother Valley Country Park.
The record team of 28 swimmers heads up in force this week to compete against some of the best swimmers Britain has to offer.
The team is being led by Head Coach Hayley Baker who said: “It’s been a remarkable year and to qualify for the British Championships with a record 28 swimmers shows the club is moving forward. Not only having the most qualifiers but the most potential number of top 10 finishes would put us among one of the strongest clubs in UK.”
After the success of Team Wales in the recent Commonwealth games in Australia, Local Swansea swimmers are looking for a piece of the action with the potential of representing wales in the future.
Although the club has a well established foundation of 250 members the club is continually looking to build on its success and looks for next generation to step up and to move the club forward.
Hayley added “ it’s exciting times for the club not only for swimmers competing this week but swimmers who are going to be inspired by this generation and hopefully take it too the next level.”
